Ford F-150 SFE to become regular cast member

In 2008, coinciding with the launch of the all-new F-150 as well as the highest gas prices in U.S. history, Ford was offering a more fuel-efficient version of the F-150 pickup for the 2009 model year. The optional SFE (Superior Fuel Economy) package featured minor fuel-saving modifications, two-wheel-drive and a three-valve 4.6L V8 engine. The model is now being discontinued, but also lives on.

PickupTrucks.com reports that Ford will drop the specific SFE model for 2010, but Ford will continue to offer a two-wheel-drive, four-door version of the F-150 with built-in SFE features to garner the SFE’s 15/21 mpg rating. So in essence, only the sticker on the quarter-panel is being deleted.
