Hennessey Performance has decided to make some off-road performance machines instead of the usual streets and have tuned up a 2010 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor, calling it the Hennessey VelociRaptor 500.

One of the most capable off-road trucksever produced, the Raptor’s Baja-bred suspension and aggressive stancewas an instant hit. Under the hood, however, the Triton 5.4L V8’s 310horsepower left much to be desired as acceleration proved less thanstellar.Fortunately for owners, Hennessey Performance has stepped into give the Raptor’s base engine the much-needed boost they’ve beencraving. Dubbed the VelociRaptor 500, it draws its power from aroots-style supercharger custom-tuned by Hennessey to produce 501horsepower and 520 lb-ft torque. In addition, stainless steel headersand a cat-back exhaust are added to help coax out the nearly 200horsepower increase and gives the VelociRaptor a menacing growl.Whether unleashed on the street or the trails, its performance gainsare undeniable. 0-60 times have been slashed by nearly 3 seconds overfactory to 5.6 seconds, with the 1/4 mile being completed over 2seconds quicker. The VelociRaptor 500 upgrade is now availableinstalled by Hennessey Performance—including a 1 year / 12,000 milelimited warranty—for $14,950.Hennessey Performance will be releasingeven more parts and packages for the SVT Raptor in 2010, includingperformance upgrades for the new 6.2L Boss V8.
