For the 33rd year in a row, Ford’s award-winning F-Series is America’s best-selling truck with 2009 sales of 413,625. F-series outsold its nearest truck rival by more than 97,000 units, the largest margin in three years.

In addition, for the 28th consecutive year, F-Series is once again America’s best-selling vehicle of any type – car, crossover, SUV, truck or van.

The F-150 was redesigned inside and out for 2009 and set a new benchmark for full size pickups with new high-strength, lighter-weight chassis that delivers more class-leading towing and hauling capability and unsurpassed fuel economy.

The F-Series trucks have made their mark since the late 1940’s, and the signature red F-1 pickup fondly referred to as the “wanette” (or 1-8, referring to its 1-ton capacity and V8 engine) was a prominent icon of the local landscape since then.

Today, the F-series trucks still make their mark on all fronts from tough works to leisure and adventure across the United States, and F-150 fans have had their dreams come true thanks to the latest ultimate off-roader, the mighty F-150 SVT Raptor. The purpose-built, high-performance off-road truck is versatile enough to take on the most challenging desert adventures as well as the everyday commute.

The Ford F-150 SVT Raptor is powered by the new 6.2L V8 engine that features all-new architecture specifically designed for robustness in a truck application, and delivers an estimated 400 net horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque.

But building a high-performance off-road truck is not about the horsepower – it’s about the suspension. The F-150 SVT Raptor doesn’t disappoint, with 13.4 inches of usable travel in the rear suspension and 11.2 in the front.
