Despite vague opposition by the Chinese government over Tengzhong’s bid to purchase Hummer from General Motors, the company is still working towards finalizing the sale by October this year. And the Chinese company is already talking about introducing more environmentally-friendly models.

A spokesman for the Chinese heavy-machinery firm said that they want to “make a green Hummer.” They intend to target emerging markets and want to do so within governmental fuel-efficiency requirements, although they are vague about which government they were referring to.

Last year, GM displayed a concept for a downsized model called the Hummer HX, which was destined to become the H4 originally. It is likely that Tengzhong will continue with its development, as well as delve into biofuels, hybrids and plug-in electric systems.
