2011 Land Rover Freelander LR2 gets facelift


Official information has been released about the 2011 Land Randover Freelander 2 facelift, which hits the UK market at the end of September. The SUV will be sold with a new 2.2L turbodiesel four-cylinder engine capable of generating either 148 horsepower, or 187 horsepower.

The automaker says the new engine produce more than the outgoing model, which would place maximum torque at about 310 lb-ft. With the 148 hp version, the engine produces 165 grams of CO2 per kilometer, an eight percent improvement over the previous, a slightly more powerful engine. As such, fuel economy is bumped up by 9% to 45.6 mpg (UK) combined. The engine may be mated to either a manual transmission, which will include stop/start, or an automatic gearbox.

Exterior changes on the car include redesigned front bumpers, that features a new look to the metal elements, a boxier shape at the bottom, and squared off insets for fog lamps. Taillight clusters are also redesigned, as well as the tailgate design. Also on sale are new 18-inch and 19-inch alloy wheels. The vehicle’s color may also be purchased in either Baltic Blue, Fuji White, or Kosrae Green, three new tones for the facelift. Inside, the SUV features new seating styles, redesigned instrumentation, and a Premium Pack that comes with electric seats and Windsor Leather upholstery.

UK pricing on the 2011 Land Rover Freelander 2 facelift begins at £21,695 on-the-road, and can climb as high as £35,510.
